You have secured your own USA-job during your university break OR you will secure your own USA-job after entering the USA (Walk-In), AND in both cases, you want to apply for the J1-visa? We will provide you with the DS-2019 form. Together with our American headquarters, the sponsor for your visa, we will make sure your Work & Travel stay fulfills the regulations of the Department of State in the USA.

Why do you need a J1 visa sponsor?
- The U.S. Department of States wants to ensure that all requirements are met prior to the visa interview at the Embassy.
- The U.S. Department of State requires students to work through a J1 visa sponsor agency during the visa application process.
- The J1 visa sponsor agency screens the participants and the host companies
- The agency then issues a form called DS-2019 which the participant has to present at the US Embassy in order to apply for the actual visa.
Work & Travel USA - J1 Visa Requirements
- Full-time student, having completed at least one semester, and registered including the follwing fall term.
- Your university must have its summer vacation for the duration of the summer job
- You have a job offer from an US-employer.

- Non-native speakers require an intermediate level of English
- European residency
- The job is paid at federal minimum wage or above.
- Your employment period must be during your summer break for a maximum of a 4 month-work period

Programme Dates for students from
UK: between June 1 - September 30
Ireland: between June 1 - September 30
Netherlands: between May 5 - August 15
Spain: between June 1 - September 15
France: between June 1 - September 30 - Jobs cannot be as a domestic worker in a household, a childcare provider, a camp counselor or any job that requires you to invest your own funds for the purpose of
- door-to-door sales.
- You have sufficient financial resources, at least $1000 for the first month.
- Between 18 and 28 years old while on programme
- Hard working, team player, good health
Jobs prohibited by the Department of State:
- Manufacturing (includes fishery jobs)
- Warehouses
- Factory work
- Catalogue/on-line distribution centers

Hazardous jobs on Dept. of Labor list (e.g., construction, roofing, farming/ranching)

- Gaming jobs (wait staff, maids, life guards on casino properties are ok, but not dealers/game operators)
- Jobs involving driving
- Jobs entailing sustained physical contact w/customers (e.g., body piercing, tattoo parlor, massage)
- Graveyard shift jobs (with hours predominantly after 10 p.m./before 6 a.m.)
- Adult entertainment (more specificity to be added to current rules)

2. Application
Once you have decided that the programme is for you, email your application documents to jobsinternships-usa@intraxeurope.com.

- Conditions of Contract
- Independent Job Offer Form. Please send this form to your US supervisor. You will both need to sign this form. We do accept legible scan copies.
- For non-native speakers: ONLINE English Test Level 2. The test only takes approximately 35 minutes and is free of charge. Alternatively, a TOEFL test no older than two years. Please forward your results to jobsinternships-usa@intraxeurope.com.

Program Fees
The full amount of the program fees is due with receipt of the invoice. We will invoice you after we have received your complete application documents and after we have conducted a skype/webcam interview with you.
Placement confirmation
Intrax contacts your host company and confirms your placements [For Walk-in: You will get in touch with Intrax in the USA on a regular basis.]
Visa documents
Within approximately 3 weeks you will receive the DS-2019 form together with other information regarding your visa interview.
Visa interview at the American embassy
Now you can schedule an appointment with the American embassy in your home country. Please check your local website for more information. Please note that you must have an in-person interview at the American embassy.
Pre-Departure Orientation
Before you leave for the USA, you will be required to do an online pre-departure Orientation. You will receive important information for your legal stay in the
United States.

Repetition of Program
You can participate in the Work & Travel Program up to 3 times. The J-1 visa application is independent of a former participation in other J-1 programs, such as High School, Au pair or Camp Counsellor in the USA.
